Although I’m not entirely sure when, I’m definitely planning a staycation at some point this year, so I’ve put together this list of Top 10 Relaxing Staycation Ideas For Adults.
If you read my blog or follow me on social media, you already know what I’m about to say. I have two small children and I work full-time. There is not a day in my life where I’m not daydreaming about a relaxing staycation.
When I think of relaxing staycation ideas, the most important thing to me is that I can have the staycation at home. These would definitely work for a quick weekend staycation, but if it were me, I’d prefer a weeklong staycation.
Just being honest. I’m stressed out and tired, okay? Anyway, here we go…

Top 10 Relaxing Staycation Ideas For Adults
WATCH A MOVIE
I don’t even remember the last time I was able to watch an entire movie at my house. Even when my kids have Disney movies on, there’s still so much going on at our house, that I can’t actually pay attention to the movie.
TAKE A NAP
One of the best staycation ideas for me is to take a nap. I feel like I get a nap once every other weekend, but that’s not enough. Normally, I wake up at 5:15am and don’t get to sleep until about 9:30pm. I need naps in my life and if I’m having a relaxing staycation, I’m definitely napping. Naps are easily one of the top mom staycation ideas ever.
READ A BOOK
Like movies, I also never have time to read books. When I was younger, I read all the time! If you have any amazing book ideas, please feel free to send them my way. Whenever I have time to have my staycation at home, I hope to at least read and finish one book.
HAVE A COOKOUT
We cookout pretty often, but if you’re having a relaxing staycation, treat yourself a little bit. Why have hot dogs when you can grill your own filet mignon? You are, after all, having a staycation at home, so you’re saving money by not paying for flights or hotels!
GO CAMPING
I think camping out in your own backyard is one of the most fun staycation ideas! It’s also really convenient. If it gets too hot or too cold, just go in the house. If you want a sandwich, go in the house. You can still make smores and sleep in a tent, but you still have the option of using an actual bathroom inside your house and having access to anything you may need.
TRY A NEW RECIPE
During the week, it’s too scary to try a new recipe. I don’t have a lot of time, so if the recipe is awful, there’s not a lot of time to make anything else. Not during a relaxing staycation, though! At home on staycation, you have all the time in the world and can get creative with new recipes. Try this chili!
REDECORATE
Some people may think that redecorating is not one of the best staycation ideas, but I guess that just depends on how much you enjoy redecorating and interior design. I cannot wait to completely change certain rooms of our house, including our master bedroom, the living room, and our dining area.
HAVE A SPA DAY
Do a hair mask, paint your nails, give yourself a facial, do one of those gross but amazing foot peels. Take advantage of this time by using it to do the things that make your skin temporarily dry and flaky, but make your skin look amazing a week later. I’m talking about you, Retin-a. There are lots of fun self care ideas that would be perfect for a relaxing staycation.
GO FOR A WALK
Preferably outside and not on a treadmill. Get some fresh air and see what your neighborhood looks like in the daytime when you’re usually at work, taking care of your kids, running off to your kids soccer games, etc.
BINGE WATCH A TV SHOW
Pull up Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, cable, and/or whatever else you have, and binge watch that TV show you never have time to watch. I know that’s what I’ll be doing during my relaxing staycation. I still haven’t finished Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, or Love is Blind.
Those are my top 10 relaxing staycation ideas for adults! What would you add to the list? Let me know in the comment section.
