Happy Birthday, RachelCorinne.com!

Birthday Cake

I started this blog exactly one year ago today!

Okay, you’re not going to believe this. Earlier today, I was searching the Internet for blog ideas and I saw one that was something along the lines of, “Post about your blog’s birthday.”

I thought to myself, “Hmm… that should be coming up soon.” I went through my posts, and eventually found my first post.

IT WAS TODAY (of last year)! January 24th, 2018.

Imagine my surprise. I nearly spat my drink all over my coworkers (I’m writing this on my lunch break because I’m a very productive, hardworking woman).

No, I didn’t. I just wanted to put that image in your head. I wasn’t even drinking anything at the time, if I’m being completely honest.

So, what have I accomplished throughout the past year?

Blogging wise, not a lot. I probably averaged two posts a month (which was my goal, so woohoo, I guess), and somehow, my post about removing buildup from your hair gets views every single day. It’s my most viewed post. I must be ranking on Google.

In general, I accomplished a little more. I created a baby human, one of the biggest feats of all time. I hope that makes up for the fact that my blog has been… a little less than what I’d originally planned for it.

Actually, if I remember correctly, I think part of the reason I started a blog was because I was pregnant and really thought I could write about lots of pregnancy-related things.

I did write about some pregnancy-related things. Like how to get rid of swelling in your ankles, what happens during a glucose test, having god forsaken gestational diabetes, and what to pack in your labor and delivery bag.

You know, I was really just answering everyone’s burning questions on pregnancy. Happy to help.

Boy oh boy am I happy to stop blogging about being pregnant. Even moreso, I’m happy to not be pregnant. Ever again. That’s right. If you didn’t know already, baby London is the second and last baby that will be exiting my body.

Any other babies will just have to live in there forever. Just kidding. That’s gross. And weird. I just had a Coca Cola Classic, you’ll have to excuse me.

On another note, I did create some blogging / social media goals for 2019.

  • Blog at least three times per month (really going hard this year, obviously).
  • More page views. Always more.
  • Grow my Instagram following.
  • Grow my Twitter following.
  • Actually use my Facebook page.
  • Tell people I know in real life about my blog.

Did you read that last bullet? I’ve literally told no one.

It’s not like I’m hiding it. I have it listed on my Twitter and Instagram accounts. I’m just not really shouting it from the rooftops (of social media), either. Plus, I’ve had this domain for around seven years. There’s always been something at rachelcorinne.com, but it used to just be set up with my Tumblr account.

I guess I just assumed that if people already knew the website existed, and if the URL was visible on my social media profiles, people would somehow stumble upon it. Maybe people have and I’m just unaware of it.

A few people in real life have, but it’s literally just from them seeing my pins on Pinterest. Not because I’ve been tweeting things like, “Check out my latest blog about hot dogs!”

I never wrote a blog about hot dogs. I don’t know why I said that. Hungry, I guess.

My number one blogging / social media goal should really be to post something about my blog on my Twitter account. Someone encourage me to do that. Leave a comment. Tell me I’m being a fool. I’ll obviously get more blog traffic that way.

There’s just something about doing that, that makes me feel weird, and I don’t want to be like, “Hey! I’m important. Click my links! Read what I wrote and then judge me for it! Ask me why I started a blog! Bring it up every time you see me in person!”

Anyway, there’s still a decent amount of you that read my blog. Thank you! Thank you to everyone who has left a comment or tweeted out a link.

If you’re new here, feel free to subscribe via email (button on the bottom right) or bookmark this page.

This is my third post of January 2019, and I’m already hitting my “three posts a month goal. Maybe we can all look forward to approximately 36 more posts on rachelcorinne.com before my blog’s second birthday rolls around. Yeehaw.
